Chinese authorities announced on 30 Apr the long-awaited pilot program for real estate investment trusts (REITs) to provide new funding for infrastructure, bolster the economy and counter economic fallout from the coronavirus shutdowns. Under the pilot scheme, Chinese mutual fund houses will launch REITs products that invest in infrastructure projects including warehouses, tollways, airports, public utilities and industrial parks.

The BritCham Shanghai and Beijing's Built Environment and Financial Services committees invite you to join us to hear from APREA (Asia Pacific Real Estate Association) on the state of the Asia Pacific REIT market as well as discuss the details of the Chinese pilot programme and what it could mean for the sector in the long term. 中国有关部门于4月30日宣布了期待已久的《关于推进基础设施领域不动产投资信托基金(REITs)试点相关工作的通知》,以及《公开募集基础设施证券投资基金指引(试行)》(征求意见稿), 旨在为基础设施建设提供新的资金,以此来进一步支持经济发展,并应对由于新冠爆发导致的停产停业所带来的经济影响。 根据该试点计划,中国的公募基金机构将会推出地产类投资信托基金产品,用于投资包括仓库,收费公路,机场,公用事业和工业园区在内的基础设施项目。

    Allan is the Country Principal, China Chapter of Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA).

    Established in 2005, APREA is an industry association that represents and promotes the real estate asset class in the Asia Pacific region.

    Based in China, Mr Zhang assists the CEO to promote real estate as an asset class and to champion the implementation of government policies that support the introduction of 'state-of-the-art' securitization platforms and efficient investment rules, preparing industry guidelines, toolkits and other supporting materials that help members operate their portfolios and assets at a world-class level, including ESG and reporting KPIs.

    Allan takes the lead in working with the Chinese government policy-makers, regulators, local organizations, industrial companies and investors to implement APREA's advocacy priorities and business development programs in the PRC.

    He also works with APREA chapters in Singapore, India, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Philippines to conduct effective business networking programs and to provide platforms for exploring cross-border investment opportunities.

    Allan holds a Master's degree in Financial Economics from Singapore Management University, Singapore.

    Sigrid is the Chief Executive Officer of Asia Pacific Real Estate Association Based in Singapore, she is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, initiatives and operations of the association across Asia Pacific.

    Sigrid joined APREA’s executive team in January 2019.

    A recognized expert in global economic, public policy and real estate issues, Sigrid is a frequent speaker at industry events Her commentary on commercial and residential real estate markets is also regularly featured in a wide array of global publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, New York Times and Reuters Additionally, she has made several television appearances on financial networks and radio such as CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, National Public Radio and Channel News Asia Prior to APREA, she served as Managing Director of Asia Pacific Research and Advisory Services of Cushman Wakefield (C&Wfrom 2010 through 2018 where she was responsible for research, thought leadership, strategy formulation and client management.

    Before relocating to Singapore, she was based in Washington. D.C and led C&W’s U S research group in the Mid Atlantic region, overseeing all aspects of market research activities in the Washington, DC Virginia Suburban Maryland, Baltimore and Philadelphia areas Prior to joining C&W, Sigrid served as a Senior Economist for the National Association of Realtors (In that position, she developed NAR’s office, warehouse, retail, multi-family housing, and international research programs.

    Sigrid holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and a Master’s degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University She is a member of several civic groups including the Rotary Club of Raffles City in Singapore, where she has served in various leadership positions.
