"Art" in its grandest definition, is often viewed as a collection of priceless cultural icons. Ensconced in beautiful museums, under careful lighting, in glass cases, and in pristinely temperature-controlled environments, we often forget that paintings, sculptures, and other visual forms (including videos, installations, and even performances) also function as commodities that are transacted for monetary value. Who buys and sells culture? Who sets the price for works of art and is the practice standardised?
Admission includes tea, cofffee and croissants.
