The current pandemic is putting a great weight on enterprises in China. Be it due to current difficulties or foreseeing economic challenges ahead, companies across the country are reducing their workforce to save on labor costs. However, dismissal in China is restricted and mistakes can be costly.

British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai invites you to join this panel discussion related to organisations and individuals, in which three experts will talk about their previous experiences and professional advices for organisation and personal perspectives.  


In this seminar, Ms. Qu, Vice-President & Senior Partner at River Delta Law Firm, will introduce individual and collective termination in China. Through summary of the law and case analysis, Ms. Qu will explain the legal foundation and best practices to handle termination.


Jane Zhang, Business/Senior Consultant at J. M. Gemini Personnel Ltd., will share outplacement service during/after employment termination/restructurings. Benefits to employers & employees and contents of outplacements programmes.


Bonnie Wang, China Coordinator for CAL and Agile Plus Management Consultant Co., Ltd., will share two cases that illustrate how redundancy can be handled in a very humane and constructive way, which will result in win-win for both the company and the employees concerned.

    Ms.Qu is a Labor Law Professional Committee member of Shanghai Lawyers Association. She was recommended by Chamber Asia Pacific 2019 & 2020, the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2017 & 2018&2019 editorial and Who’s Who Legal 2019&2020, a Litigation Star for Labor and employment disputes of Benchmark Litigation 2020, and top 100 women in litigation in 2020 by Benchmark Asia-Pacific.

    Ms. Qu has practiced Employment Law for more than a decade, making her an expert in the areas of labour law and HR compliance.
