Outbound data transfer from China is an area of importance for the UK and other multinational companies. Chinese regulators already penalized against such non-compliance and hefty fines and personal liabilities are significant risks.
China has just issued detailed rules on the three permissible mechanisms for outbound personal data transfer. The prescribed volume of personal data transfer needing Chinese government approval, the process for obtaining government approval for cross-border personal data transfer and the definition of Important Data are also all official now. Companies are given the deadline of March 31 2023, to rectify non-compliance in cases where they were required to obtain Chinese government approval for outbound data transfer.
Companies need to take stock of their outbound data transfer from China and ensure compliance. In this webinar, we will explain how to transfer data from China using legally permissible mechanisms.
