Event details
An incremental two billion urbanites by 2050, all three Triangle elements essential for survival/well being, Chinese enterprises dominant in all three โ what does this portend?
Van Fleet uses the name 'Golden Triangle' for three technology stacks: renewable energy, electrified mobility and smart cities, and he asserts that Chinese people, enterprises and society are uniquely poised to capture the tectonic transformation that these tech stacks represent for the next several decades. Here's why:
- We'll have nearly two billion incremental urbanites globally by 2050, from about six million of us to nearly eight. The required infrastructure buildout alone will cost well more than US$100 trillion.
- More than 90% of the increase will be in emerging markets โ including 300 million right here in China (on a declining population overall
- EMs require cost-effective infrastructure, and China represents easily the best Petri dish on the planet for innovating and developing cost-effective urbanization solutions, then scaling/providing to the world.
- The Golden Triangle largely comprises the tech and societal solutions required for Earth's coming two billion urbanites, and Chinese enterprises are overwhelmingly dominant overall in all three points, hence 'China's Golden Triangle'.
We certainly have no guarantee โ plenty could go pear-shaped, and Van Fleet will review some of the key points. But he concludes, more strongly than he did at the BritCham talk last June, that we here in China have a front-row seat for the 21st century.
Admission includes tea, cofffee and croissants.
