School campuses in China have been empty for months โ€“ a long period with many challenges. While the situation in mainland China continues to improve, some of the campuses are inching closer and closer to reopening, which will present another set of emerging challenges. Shouldering important responsibilities, schools need to properly plan for and manage new risks on top of the usual ones when students, faculty and staff return to campus. Health and safety concerns top the list and will be directed by government to a great extent. But the risks extend beyond those, and missteps can quickly spiral into crises that threaten reputation among various stakeholders.

In this session, the Chamber invites experts from Control Risks to share practical suggestions on how the education sector can manage and respond to the risks in this "non-normal" environment. The discussion topics will include:

  • Overview of the current COVID-19 situation in China and on-going concerns
  • The challenges of travel restrictions, both international and within China
  • How to rethink scenario planning, crisis management and operational continuity
