The revised Women's Protection Law ('WPL') becomes effective on January 1, 2023. Adopted on October 30, 2022, by the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, the amendment is deemed to be the most comprehensive since its enactment – 30 years ago.

For companies, the changes set requirements to address gender discrimination in recruitment and hiring procedures, and curb workplace sexual harassment. Thus, enhancing women's rights in the work environment.
